EuroDIG 2017


The 10th annual meeting of the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG) will be held on 6-7 June 2017, in Tallinn, Estonia, and it will be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.

AI for Good Summit


The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the IBM Watson XPRIZE will organise an 'AI for Good Summit', on 7-9 June 2017, in Geneva, Switzerland. 

The summit will be focused on exploring the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) innovation for society, and will showcase AI applications in addressing global challenges such as proverty, hunger, health, and gender equality. It will bring together government, industry, acamedia, and civil society representatives, to discuss their respective roles in supporting the responsible development of human-centric AI technologies.

WSIS Forum 2017


The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2017 will be held on 12-16 June 2017, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The annual WSIS Forum is a global multistakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing sustainable development. The Forum is co-organised by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP, and UNCTAD, in close collaboration with all WSIS Action Line co-/facilitators and other UN organizations (UNDESA, FAO, UNEP, WHO, UN Women, WIPO, WFP, ILO, WMO, ITC, UPU, UNODC, UNICEF, and UN Regional Commissions). It provides an opportunity for information exchange, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships, taking into account the evolving Information and Knowledge Societies.

Geneva Internet L@w Summer School


The Geneva Internet L@w Summer School, organised by the Univesity of Geneva, will be held on 19-30 June. 

UNECE Workshop on Statistical Data Dissemination and Communication


The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will hold a workshop on Statistical Data Dissemination and Communication, on 28-30 June 2017, at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The workshop will focus on cutting edge ideas, new trends, experiments, and approaches in the areas of data dissemination and communication. The following substantive topics will feature in the programme: strategic communication planning; measuring success and impact of communication programs (key performance indicators, web and social media analytics, measurement strategies); visions in data dissemination (e.g. open data, automated processes, strategies); novel uses of social media (new channels, strategies, emerging trends); publishing and promoting digital content (automated publications, tools); presenting data in a simple way / Data visualisations (including geospatial data and maps); audience segmentation, personas, and tailoring messages; and press and news media: adapting to today's media landscape.

Sixth Global Review Aid-For-Trade Monitoring Exercise


The World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will hold the Sixth Global Review of Aid for Trade on 11-13July 2017, in Geneva, Switzerland. 

Organised under the theme 'Promoting Connectivity', the review will include a monitoring and evaluation exercise, whose aim will be to survey: Aid-for-Trade priorities and how these have changed; the status of Trade Facilitation Agreement implementation and support; engagement in, and support to, the development of e-commerce; and infrastructure investment, the development of related services, markets and related investment climate reforms.

One cross-cutting theme that will be examined by the monitoring and evaluation exercise is how Aid-for-Trade support is contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, notably the targets on poverty eradication and women's economic empowerment.
