A swift green transformation is imperative to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pressures, necessitating sustainable energy transition and low-carbon solutions. Digital technologies offer avenues for economic growth, policy execution, and enhanced public service management, facilitating natural resource management and the transition to a circular economy. Integrating digital features into products may add value but also pose challenges for customs and regulatory processes. The rise of e-commerce has led to smaller but more numerous cross-border shipments, altering traditional trade patterns. Regulatory agencies must adopt a risk-based strategy to effectively navigate these changes.
Against this backdrop, the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is hosting the ‘Risk management and green, digital transformation conference’ to discuss such challenges and consider risk management principles and further guidance that can be useful for the Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP.6).
