The 9th Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy will be held on 21 February 2017, in Geneva, Switzerland. The event is sponsored by a coalition of 25 human rights non-governmental organisations from around the world.

Held right before the main annual session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the summit will bring together human rights activitists, diplomats, journalists, and students, among others, for discussions on urgent human rights situations that require global attention. Human rights heroes, activists and former political prisoners from China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Venezuela and other countries testify about their personal struggles for human rights, democracy and freedom, and join hands to plan action strategies.

More details about the programme of the summit will be made available on the dedicated website.
