The GIS for a Sustainable World Conference will be held on 9-11 May, in Geneva, Switzerland. The event is co-hosted by Esri and the Operational Satellite Application Programme of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.

The conference will be dedicated to exploring modalities in which intelligent maps and application can accelerate the work towards achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, in areas such as ending poverty and inequality, climate change, and improving health. It will feature an engaging and interactive environment that will allow participants to learn how the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can contribute to improved workflows and efficiencies, and how big data and real-time data can unlock the full potential of data. They will also be able to explore innovative solutions like virtual and augmented reality apps, and engage in technical workshops and interactive discussion groups and breakout sessions.
