The Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations Office and other international organisations in Geneva and the UNESCO Geneva Liaison Office will organise a panel discussion on 'The media’s role in advancing peaceful, just and inclusive societies', with the ocassion of the World Press Freedom Day. The event will take place on 3 May, from 11:00 to 13:00, at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The discussion will focus on the following issues: justice for all as a prerequisite for freedom of expression and sustainable development, freedom of expression and freedom of information in fostering more inclusive societies, and safety of journalists and media freedom as a means of ensuring public access to information. The event will also build upon the Windhoek Declaration on press freedom, independent, and pluralistics media and freedom of expression.
