In November 2020, an event “Water and Cyber Security - protection of critical water-related infrastructure”  focused on the European region and was attended by experts from governments, international organizations and the private sector to explore implementation of the relevant SDGs, and cybersecurity best practices.

Building on those fruitful exchanges, a follow- up event will explore how some of those lessons could be applied in developing countries, with a specific focus on the African region. In particular, the event will focus on the specific national experiences, the frameworks and standards that have been put in place, such as the Malabo Convention.

The event will be opened by
  • Prof Petteri Taalas, WMO Secretary General and

  • Mr Mark Montgomery, Executive Director of the US Cyberspace Solarium Commission.

The event is organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Slovenia to the UN in Geneva, the Permanent Mission of Israel to the UN in Geneva, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Microsoft.

The Geneva Internet Platform is an initiative of the Swiss authorities

Members of the Steering Committee are FDFA, OFCOM and the Canton of Geneva
